Joe Freidhoff, Ph.D., has been with Michigan Virtual since 2009. Dr. Freidhoff earned his Ph.D. in Educational Technologies from Michigan State University and specializes in data-driven decision making, analysis of student and teacher performance, course evaluation and data optimization. He also has experience teaching in face-to-face and online settings, having taught undergraduate- and graduate-level courses in both face-to-face and online formats. Director of MVLRI
Dr. Kennedy received a Ph.D. in curriculum and instruction with a concentration in Educational Technology from the University of Florida. She formerly served as the Director of Research for the International Association for K-12 Online Learning (iNACOL). Dr. Kennedy’s practical experiences include preservice and in-service teacher, technology specialist and school librarian professional development for technology integration and instructional design in traditional, blended, and online learning environments. Her research interests deal directly with her practical experience and concentrate mostly on education professionals and their preparation for next generation learning models, including but not limited to online and blended learning environments. Dr. DeBruler received her doctorate in Educational Psychology and Educational Technology from Michigan State University. She taught in the Master of Arts in Educational Technology program at Michigan State University for three years. Jemma Bae Kwon
Dr. Bae received a Ph.D. in special education with a minor in Research and Evaluation Methodology-Quantitative from the University of Florida. Dr. Bae specializes in mathematics learning and educational data mining/analysis. She is particularly interested in the research question on how and why a program worked or did not work by systematically integrating various contextual factors and research methods. Her primary research methods include structural equation modeling, hierarchical linear modeling, quasi-experimental design and social network analysis. Dr. Bae joined Michigan Virtual in 2015. Senior Writer & Publications Manager
Rebecca Stimson joined Michigan Virtual Learning Research Institute in 2012. Stimson has English Education credentials and a B.A. in Urban Development-Urban Education from Michigan State University. In addition, she earned an M.A. in Educational Policy Studies from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She taught personalized developmental reading and writing at Lansing Community College for six years and has over 25 years of experience writing and editing for a variety of audiences.
